Beautiful Dahab, on the right, with her adopted sister Daisy, on the left, are both Egyptian dogs who are now happily living in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in their new adopted home. Dahab was found as a baby in the Red Sea town of Dahab by Britta Steiner, an animal welfare activist who lives there. Thanks to Teresa in Colorado for adopting these two wonderful dogs.
A letter from Lea's new family in Germany:
Lea (Lisa from Egypt) loves the snow, and with delightfully seal, silky winter coat, she itself has grown meanwhile, she can rave for hours outdoors and walk. She has become my dear companion, we are well played in and enjoy our life. Has seldom seen a dog who wants to cuddle so dearly like her - as if she wants to make up the past years without intensive human contact. If one comes home - or also simply sometimes occasionally - she tries formally to melt with one.
If we photos compare of that time nearly one year ago with you at the animal home and now, we can hardly think that they show the same dog. Now Lea has a thick tail, and if we meet somewhere foreign people, they think correspondently, she looks like a fox.
She has won a lot of trust, meets other dogs increasingly curiously, is unlocked towards person, even if at first carefully, and she has no shyness of children. Even the biggest bustle cannot shake her (e.g., Christmas in big family with 20 people and an other dog). In the everyday life she also, however, loves it to let wander in rest of her place in the window from her look meditating about the scenery and to observe the birds in the garden.
With many good wishes for your other work and also for each of you personally in the new year,
warmly
Silke and Lea Gareis

She's so happy now! Quite a change from 6 months ago when she was rescued from the pet shop.
Happy in Germany!
