Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals

Egyptian Society of Animal Friends and ESMA worked together to confiscate eleven animals from the horrible pet shop located near the Qasr al-Ayni hospital on Qasr al-Ayni street.  The animals were kept there in terrrible and inhumane conditions and several of the cats we confiscated died soon thereafter from dehydration and starvation.

We ask everyone in Egypt to never buy animals from pet shops.  Your purchases only encourage them to obtain more animals, many of which are surely stolen.

Meet Um Ashraf, a woman who has very little herself but always manages to feed her neighborhood cats.  She collects leftovers from the grocer or when she gets a few Pounds she will buy the cats a treat of tune that she shares with them.  For many years she never neglected feeding them even when there is not maybe a possibility of getting herself any food.
